Delta Mayoral Candidate Coun. Dylan Kruger Signs Metro Vancouver Accountability Charter

Growing coalition of mayoral candidates commits to governance reform, greater accountability and refusing additional Metro Vancouver compensation

Metro Vancouver, B.C. (July 30, 2026) Delta City Councillor and mayoral candidate Dylan Kruger has become the latest municipal leader to sign the Metro Vancouver Accountability Charter, joining a growing coalition of elected officials and mayoral candidates committed to strengthening accountability, transparency and governance at Metro Vancouver.

The Charter outlines a series of practical reforms aimed at restoring public confidence in Metro Vancouver through stronger financial oversight, enhanced transparency, improved governance practices and a renewed focus on delivering value for taxpayers.

As a Metro Vancouver Director, Kruger has advocated for governance reform. He has previously led efforts to eliminate international travel for Metro Vancouver Directors, reduce unnecessary spending and advance proposals to streamline the size and structure of the Metro Vancouver Board.

"Dylan Kruger has challenged the status quo at Metro Vancouver and is working to advance the best interest of taxpayers," said New Westminster City Councillor Daniel Fontaine, co-founder of the Metro Vancouver Accountability Charter. "His work to modernize governance and strengthen financial accountability at the regional level aligns closely with the principles outlined in the Charter. We're pleased to welcome him as a signatory."

Richmond City Councillor and mayoral candidate Kash Heed, who co-founded the Charter alongside Fontaine, said Kruger's support reflects growing momentum for regional reform.

"Metro Vancouver is responsible for decisions that affect millions of residents and billions of taxpayer dollars," said Heed. "It’s important that mayoral candidates like Dylan Kruger continue to sign on to the Charter from across our region.”

Kruger said he believes Metro Vancouver must return its focus to accountability and delivering value for taxpayers.

"Throughout my time on Delta Council and as a Metro Vancouver Director, I've advocated for responsible financial management, greater transparency and better governance," said Dylan Kruger. "The Metro Vancouver Accountability Charter reflects those same principles, and I'm proud to support an initiative that encourages regional government to become more accountable, more transparent and more focused on the people it serves."
