Metro Accountability Charter

I am a mayoral candidate for a Metro Vancouver municipality in the October 2026 municipal election.

 

I support calls for changes to Metro Vancouver governance in response to revelations about questionable spending, luxury trips, ballooning Board compensation and a $4 billion wastewater plant that is 500% over-budget.

 

If elected Mayor in October, I will support the following actions to reform Metro Vancouver governance and demonstrate respect again for taxpayers across the region.

 

• 1.   Ethical Compensation: I will receive only my base municipal salary for regional board participation. I will not seek or accept any additional stipends or honoraria.
   

•  2.   Transparency: I will, at the earliest opportunity, support a full, independent review of the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant to ensure lessons are learned and accountability is restored.
   

•  3.   Smart Governance: I will advocate for the creation of a smaller, directly elected Regional Leadership Council of Mayors and a Tsawwassen First Nation representative that will oversee regional organizations, including Metro Vancouver, Translink and E-Comm, and ensure regional services operate more efficiently and transparently.
   

•  4.   Independent Oversight: I will support re-establishment of an Auditor General for Local Government and/or an expansion of BC's Auditor General mandate to include member municipalities and Metro Vancouver. If BC fails to act within 6 months, I will support an independent Office of the Auditor General to encompass Metro Vancouver and TransLink.
   

•  5.   Critical Services Review: Within 90 days of election, I will support the launch of an independent core services review of Metro Vancouver programs to identify potential cost savings and refocus the organization back to essential priorities.
